Exploration of self photoshoot

I took a whole series of photos in January this year. I had an idea of working with lace and the body. Here are some of my favourites.

Working lace turned out to be amazing. The effects were awesome!

I really like incorporating texture into my photographs - hiding things but still being able to see it. Suggesting a hint of something, not quite there.

K's Photoshoot—part 6

^ I almost forgot to add this photo. This is one of my favourites.

K's Photoshoot—part 5

^ running away to my dreams...where I'll rest, dreaming, safe.

K's Photoshoot—part 4

^ These photos were quite spontaneous really, K was fixing up something on her shoes and I saw a beautiful photo - so snapped it. Then I saw how pretty the light looked on her legs and shot this lovely photo.

K's Photoshoot—part 3

^Part 3 of K's photoshoot. Looking forward to another photoshoot with her.

K's Photoshoot—part 2

Photoshoot with my parents - Part 1

A few weeks ago while my parents were visiting I had the privilege of photographing them. These are a few of the many I took. More to come soon.
It was lots of fun to photograph them in various locations. I have of course got them to sign a model release form - so it's perfectly legal for me to post these photographs.

SNOW!!

Me, my husband and Della went to snow yesterday. It's only 20 minutes from where we live. It was absolutely gorgeous, very cold though, but oh so beautiful. It started snowing when we arrived. Everything was lightly covered in fresh fallen snow, which made for lovely footprint photos and fresh snow!
It doesn't snow at my house, but on top of the mountain, we live at the bottom of it.
More photos here.

Playful Tiger

Tiger was in a playful mood, so my husband and I played with him using sticks, rustling grass - anything to attract his attention. I decided to try motion photography of Tiger in action - jumping, running...they turned out so cute.

Redwoods and exploration

I saw these trees and had to photograph them. They look lovely in the afternoon autumn sunlight.

This is someone's lovely driveway - with beautiful autumn colours lining their driveway

This photo was taken on a 5 second exposure - I used my camera bag to rest it on. I don't have a tripod yet, hoping to soon.

Lovely Redwoods near where we live

I photographed my husband jumping in the afternoon sunlight surrounded by Redwoods.

Extra photos

We stopped randomly on the side of the road due to a phone call and I saw these two lovely photo opportunities. The horsehair particularly was a photo already in my mind - the sunlight filtering through was a bonus.

Self-portrait experimentation

Mirrors + lovely sunlight/daylight = interesting self-portraits
I took many self-portraits using a mirror resting on a chair with the light source in various places - these are 2 of my favourites. As is the one I have used for my profile page.
I have over the course of my life taken many, many self-portraits so am quite practiced in the art. It is indeed an art, one I am still experimenting in. The key is to make sure your arm (the good ol' arm stretch) is not in the photo and that your neck is not strained in funny uncomfortable looking ways.
I try to take unusual self-portraits, they don't always turn out. I think it is important to know how to photograph oneself just as much as it is important to know how to compose a photograph in other settings.

A visitor - cute kitty

I had the privilege of photographing an adorable kitten who decided to follow me home on Sunday night. He was still there Monday morning so I captured his presence while he visited me. He had a beautiful nature, constantly purring and wanting to snuggle. He would follow me where ever I went - so cute.
